CHAPTER IV PROTECTION OF TENANTS AGAINST EVICTION

India Code records, in a footnote to section 1(4), that this Act came into force on 30 November 2013. The East Punjab Urban Rent Restriction Act, 1949 is repealed for Punjab by section 75, subject to the savings in that section.
1[Without the previous consent, in writing, of the landlord, no tenant shall, -
(a) sub-let the whole or any part of the premises held as a tenant; or
(b) transfer of assign his right in the tenancy or any part thereof.]
