Privacy Policy

1. Information We Collect

When you register on Law Maker (lawmaker.in), we collect your name, email address, and phone number where provided. When you request a mentor session or coaching institute counselling call, we collect the details you submit in those forms. When you apply to become a mentor, we collect the details in the application and the proof document you attach; the document is kept on our server outside the public website, seen only by our team for verification, and deleted if the application is not accepted. Payment transactions are processed by Razorpay; we do not store your card or bank details on our servers.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to provide the services you request (mock test access, mentor bookings, coaching institute leads, internship applications) and to communicate with you about your account and purchases. We do not sell your personal information to third parties.

Mock test scores are compared with other students' first attempts to show your rank and percentile. Each exam page also has a public leaderboard that shows your first name, the initial of your surname and your average score. You can hide your name from your dashboard; your scores still count towards other students' ranks, without your name.

Your answers in mock tests and practice tests are kept to build your progress, your mistake book (questions you got wrong or left unanswered) and your saved questions. These are visible only to you, and practice tests are never ranked or shown on a leaderboard.

3. Sharing With Third Parties

When you request a mentor session or coaching counselling call, your contact details are shared with that specific mentor or institute so they can respond to you. We use Razorpay for payment processing and Brevo for transactional email delivery.

Questions you type into the AI Study Assistant are sent to Anthropic, the AI provider that answers them. The Coaching Institutes page looks up your approximate state from your IP address through ipapi.co, only to pre-select the state filter. State exam pages show a map loaded from Google Maps.

Law Maker is for students in India. When a page is opened, the server looks up the country of the visitor's IP address in a database kept on our own server (IP Geolocation by DB-IP) and may decline visits from outside India. The address is not stored for this check; only a count of visits by country is kept.

4. Data Security

Passwords are stored using industry-standard hashing (bcrypt) and are never visible to us in plain text. We take reasonable technical measures to protect your data but cannot guarantee absolute security of information transmitted over the internet.

You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data by writing to join@lawmaker.in.
