Section 1: Title and extent of operation of the Code

The Indian Penal Code, 1860 (repealed)

Repealed by the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023 (45 of 2023) with effect from 1 July 2024.

This Act shall be called the Indian Penal Code, and shall 1[extend to the whole of India 2***].
