All Rent Authorities and Additional Rent Authorities appointed under this Act shall be deemed to be public servants within the meaning of section 21 of the Indian Penal Code, 1860.

India Code records, in a footnote to section 1(4), that this Act came into force on 30 November 2013. The East Punjab Urban Rent Restriction Act, 1949 is repealed for Punjab by section 75, subject to the savings in that section.
