No suit, prosecution or other legal proceeding shall lie against any Rent Authority or Additional Rent Authority in respect of anything which is in good faith done or intended to be done in pursuance of this Act.

India Code records, in a footnote to section 1(4), that this Act came into force on 30 November 2013. The East Punjab Urban Rent Restriction Act, 1949 is repealed for Punjab by section 75, subject to the savings in that section.
