Section 342 of the Code of Criminal Procedure is now section 381 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, in force from 1 July 2024. 94% of the old wording is kept; 2 words removed and 2 words added.

CrPC section 342Power to order costs

Any Court dealing with an application made to it for filing a complaint under section ~~340~~ or an appeal under section ~~341,~~ shall have power to make such order as to costs as may be just.

BNSS section 381Power to order costs

Any Court dealing with an application made to it for filing a complaint under section 379 or an appeal under section 380, shall have power to make such order as to costs as may be just.
